Good Morning Douglas and Saugatuck, Michigan

Today in West Michigan: A chance of snow, about 1 inch before 8 am, then scattered flurries. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 25. North northwest wind between 11 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Here at Sherwood Forest Bed and Breakfast, it's going to be another quiet day, gogin to get some baking done, test out a new recipe maybe. A good day to lounge around, sit in front of one of our fireplaces and read a good slow book, take a jacuzzi and chill, take a long walk, breathe some clean air.

Don't forget it's Valentines Month, we still have a couple of rooms left for this weekend, treat yourself and your loved one to a quick getaway at Sherwood Forest Bed and Breakfast. We can give place some awesome chocolates, roses or champaign in your room, recommend a great romantic restaurant too. Give us a call and we can help make your Valentines Day special.

Here at Sherwood Forest Bed and Breakfast, here's a few outdoor suggestions.

With this fresh snow and the temps below freezing, you can go ice skating, either in downtown Douglas or Saugatuck, Michigan. Cross country ski at the state park (you can rent skis at Landsharks). Do some sledding at Westshore Golf Course (2nd hole is the best! and we have sleds). Take a long walk along the beach and wonder at the marvel of the ice on the lake, there are some winter birds on the water too, such as Greater and Lesser Scaup, Common Goldeneye and Oldsquaws, which inhabit Lake Michigan’s near and offshore waters as long as the lake remains ice-free.

Here's a great Cinnamon Roll Recipe for you to enjoy

Soutine's Cinnamon Rolls

This is a great Sunday morning delight. We've named it after a very young Siren of Sherwood, whose mother is a full-fledged member, and someday we're sure she'll also be a fantastic chefette.

3 1/2 C. flour
4 tp. baking powder
1 tp. salt
1/2 C. cold butter, cut into small pieces
2 eggs, beaten
3/4 to 1 C. milk
Filling:
1/4 C. butter, softened
1/2 C. brown sugar
11/2 tp. ground cinnamon
Glaze:
11/2 Tb. sugar
11/2 Tb. water
11/2 tp. unflavored gelatin

Combine 1st three ingredients, add salt. Cut in the cold butter until resembles coarse meal. In separate bowl combine eggs & milk, then add to flour mix to make soft dough. Roll out dough on lightly floured surface to make about a 12-inch square 1/4-inch thick. Spread w/ the softened butter & sprinkle w/ brown sugar & cinnamon. Roll up & cut into 8 pieces about 11/2-inches long. Place on greased cookie sheet & bake at 400 degrees for 20-25 minutes. For the glaze, boil sugar, water, & gelatin until clear, then brush over hot rolls.

From all of us here at Sherwood Forest B and B, have a great Day!!!
